Just some numbers.

"We don't want people to join us because of the pay. But neither do we want people not join us because of the pay." - Minister-In-Charge of the Civil Service Teo Chee Hean.

It takes about 44 years for my parents collectively to earn what a minister earn in a year.
It takes about 88 years for my mother/dad to earn what a minister earn in a year.

It takes my parents collectively 88 years to earn what the Prime minister earns in a year.
It takes my mother/dad 176 years to earn what the Prime minister earns in a year.

I wonder how many years I have to work upon graduation if I benchmark my annual income with that of the top personnels serving in the Public Service?
