What Catherine Lim has written is exactly the feeling that I've been wanting to express.
I couldn't have said it better myself.
But there's one striking point that I have resigned to:
We Singaporeans are bred to be pragmatic, success-driven, and we desire material well-being in this meritocracy.
The higher up you are on this ladder of merit, the more you expect to get out of it.
What I see is that, altruism is hardly alive in contemporary Singapore.
Lets face it, we aint living in a utopia. Everyone here is pretty much pragmatic and individualistic.
